STEVE KANTNER - CHAIR
As Chair I'm hoping we can bring a balance of fun and interest to our meetings this year to attract good attendance. Feel free to suggest speakers or events that you'd like to see. I'm currently a Division Scientist in the Consumer Health Care Lab at 3M where I develop skin care and topical OTC formulations and first aid products for retail sale through mass merchandisers under the Nexcare brand. Prior to this I did R&D in a group selling a diverse array of raw materials and 3M technologies into the cosmetic industry including polymers, glitter, encapsulated materials, and patches. My entire 26 year professional career has been at 3M and includes stints in medical products and materials research. I'm a co-inventor on 38 US patents and have left my mark on numerous products with varying degrees of success. Born and raised in Chicagoland, I came to Minnesota to get a bachelors degree in chemistry at Macalester College followed by a PhD in organic chemistry at UW-Madison. I then did a post-doc at Harvard before joining 3M. |

Hello fellow TCSCC'ers. This is my first time on the SCC board and I am looking forward to a great year for our chapter. I've been an SCC member for almost 5 years and have been attending most of the TC and Midwest chapters meetings. I am a life-long Minnesotan and unfortunately have bled way too much Purple over the years. I received my degree in Biology from Augsburg College in Mpls. The past 7 years I have been working for Univar, with the last 5 specifically focused on personal care as the Business Development Specialist for 17 states in the Midwest. I really enjoy working with formulators and seeing all the unique products that eventually make it to the store shelves. When I'm not traveling, I'm kind of a homebody. I like spending time with my 2 teenage daughters and I try really hard not to embarrass them but you know, sometimes you just have to. Contact Information: Phillip Mitteness SAMANTHA ANDERSON -
SECRETARY I am very excited to be a part of the office of the Twin Cities Chapter of the SCC this year! I currently work at Aveda as an Associate Chemist in Skin Care and have been there for five years. I graduated with a BS in Biology and a minor in Chemistry from the University of Minnesota, Duluth. I grew up in Duluth and moved to the cities in 2004. When I'm not working I enjoy traveling and many of the wonderful outdoor activities that Minnesota has to offer. I look forward to meeting everyone at chapter meetings. Contact Information: Samantha Anderson BRANDIE JOHNSON - TREASURER
Hello Twin Cities Chapter. I am your Treasurer for 2009. I am currently employed with Aveda Corporation working as the Skincare Formulation Project Leader in Research and Development. I have been with Aveda for six years and have completed many skin, spa and body formulations. My work also involves using many innovative materials and challenging formulation restrictions to produce novel products. I have also been a part of Girls in Science and Young Scientists presentations to encourage young students to get excited about science and possible scientific careers. In my spare time, my husband and I love to spend time outdoors boating, camping, and snow boarding. We also enjoy relaxing on our deck with family and friends.
