Moving Towards Green and Sustainable Chemistry in Research and Education
Green chemistry aims to be "benign by design", attempting to evaluate chemistry at all levels using a holistic analysis of a chemical process. Our research involves both organic reaction development and the creation of educational materials with polymers. I will present recent findings from our laboratory inspired by green chemistry and its lofty goals. We will discuss a number of green polymers developed using sustainable monomers and non-stringent reaction conditions which highlight cutting edge research in the area of polymer chemistry.
