PHILLIP MITTENESS - CHAIR

I’ve been a member of the SCC for 20 years. Time flies when you’re having fun! I’ve been Chair-elect, Chair, and was the Treasurer for a couple of years. During my career in personal care, I’ve mainly been in technical sales for distributors. I’m currently working for a glycolic acid manufacturer.

One of the reasons I like to be on the board is to give back to the chapter, and because it’s a very rewarding experience. I appreciate the teamwork it takes to put on successful meetings/events, and look forward to helping the chapter grow as well as to continue to bring cosmetic science knowledge to the members.

Bio:
My current role is N & S America Account Mgr for PureTech Scientific (a new company as of August 1st 2023!) focusing on providing the personal care grade glycolic acid we produce at our plant in West Virginia. Prior to that I worked in technical sales for a couple of large distributors. Collaborating with customers on projects and helping them with their needs is something I really enjoy.

I have a B.A.in Biology from Augsburg University. A few of my interests are traveling, camping, and bicycling with my wife and 2 dogs.

JUSTIN STEINKE - TREASURER
I joined the SCC in 2011 as a chapter member and shortly thereafter was elected Secretary for the TCCSCC Board. In successive years, I was elected Chair-elect, serving as the Chair the following year and finally settling in as Treasurer, having remained the Treasurer to date and currently serving my 12th year on the board of the TCCSCC.
In my spare time, I work for Odele Beauty as the Chief Technical and R&D Officer and am based out of Minneapolis, MN.
Prior to joining Odele, I was one of 3 founders of Evergreen Innovations, a contract manufacturer based in Minneapolis, MN, responsible for building all the technical aspects of the firm. I gained much of my experience prior to Evergreen Innovations working with The JR Watkins Company, Apex International, Pace Analytical Life Sciences and earned a BA in Chemistry from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota.
What drives me daily is supporting my wife, two daughters and son, paying for all those expensive sports my kids love to participate in and feeding their bottomless pits also known as their stomachs.

LISA STEVENS, M.S. - SECRETARY

Lisa Stevens is working in both product development and quality in the scope of cosmetics, OTC pharmaceutical, and medical devices at a contract manufacturing company in the Des Moines, IA area. She received an MS in Pharmaceutical Science, Cosmetic Science from the University of Cincinnati in 2018. She have been in the industry for about 7 years and has been in technical sales, regulatory, process engineering, and product development.
She ran for secretary to become more involved and to give back to an organization that has provided so much benefit to so many. Luckily, even from Des Moines, there are many ways to stay connected.
Since formulation is her favorite thing to do, you can find her formulating her own products at home. Other than that, she loves hiking outdoors, doing aerial and yoga, and art. If you are in the Clive, IA area, you can find her statue along the Clive Greenbelt Trail spring/summer 2025!
