About The Event

Clean Beauty is a growing trend and is focused on simple easy to follow ingredient labels, as well as more natural ingredients. In addition, recent limitations on sunscreen filters are making it more difficult to formulate elegant products that meet higher SPF claims. This presentation will address how it is possible to meet these trends and still achieve an elegant emulsion for skin care and even sunscreen formulations. 

Using an amphiphilic polymer, we can create elegant emulsions that do not require any co-emulsifiers. This system can incorporate very high oil and mineral loading, and is versatile enough to create a range of unique rheology’s and textures. The particle size distribution and film forming properties make it ideal for sunscreen formulations. 

The presentation will also cover two other key ingredients used in making our clean beauty sunscreen formulas. The first is a marine derived bioactive that demonstrates multiple photoprotection activities that will aid in boosting UV protection. This material will be shown to protect the elastin network from blue light damage, as well as reduction of sunburn cell formation. In addition, recent testing demonstrates intrinsic UV absorbing properties and an SPF boost in a dose-response manner. The second featured ingredient is a natural, broad spectrum preservative. The chemistry of this ingredient and its preservative testing will be presented. 

Formulations will be shown demonstrating the ability of these technologies to create a wide range of product forms and textures.
