About The Event

Due to the rate at which information can be disseminated and spread in the internet age, our industry must be vigilant in responding to misinformation that gets to the general public.  Beginning as far back as the late fifties within the food industry, consumers have become very wary of preservatives.  This thinking has now spread to cosmetics.  One by one, thoroughly tested cosmetic preservatives with a long track record of reliable and safe performance are very rapidly falling out of favor.  Consumers no longer want them in their products regardless of these facts.  Attempts are continuously made to "educate" consumers, but many times these attempts either fail, or simply fall on deaf ears.  In this paper, we will review alternatives and approaches that may allow our industry to continue to produce safe, effective, and adequately preserved cosmetic products without the use of preservatives that consumers do not want in their products. ​
